Gurkha Trailblazer Race Guide

The race starts on a narrow path for 1.3km. Therefore, we advise slow runners to line up at the back and fast runners in front at the start line. All runners are advised to take precaution while overtaking, stay on the marked trail, be considerate to other hikers and country park users.
Check Point 1 (CP1) – At 5km – Water, Electrolytes, Banana and First Aid.
ALL runners MUST scan their band (CHIP) at this CP. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
Check Point 2 (CP2) – At 10km – Water, Electrolytes, Banana, Oranges and First Aid.
ALL runners (26km) MUST scan their band (CHIP) at this CP. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
CP1 (For both 12km and 26km) and CP2 (26km only) are only water stops on the race route. We advise all runners to carry a bottle or hydration pack at the start of the race. Recommend at least 500ml – 1 ltr for 12km and 1ltr – 2 ltr for 26km. Please note that we will not provide any cups at CPs and Finish Line. Please bring your own bottle to protect our environment.
Number BIB and CHIP band
Number BIB and CHIP band is not transferable. Runners or third party using other’s number BIB will be disqualified immediately. To convince the officials to record the results and distribution of prizes all runners are advised to wear their BIB in front and must be visible. Please note that your number BIB might not match your CHIP band.
Bus service will be provided to participants who opted (Paid) for bus service and will pick them up from Fanling MTR and drop off at Lau Shui Heung Road/ Hok Tau Road Roundabout. From here participants need to walk approximately 700m towards Lau Shui Heung Reservoir, Start & Finish Venue.
Pick up point – 18 Fanling Station Road under the overhead bridge (Outside Fanling MTR exit A3). Look for our volunteer wearing Gurkha Trailblazer Tshirt and show your BIB number to get on the bus.

Participants taking public transportation can take New Territories Green Minibus no. 52B (16 sitter) from minibus stop at Fanling MTR Exit A3 and get off at Roundabout (Lau Shui Heung Road & Hok Tau Road) or Green taxi to Lau Shui Heung Reservoir. Please check the bus schedule before hand as frequency is low.
There will be baggage drop off area at the start/finish which will be open at 8:30am. To help us manage it properly, please kindly use the bag tag (write your BIB Number) provided in your race pack and tie it to your bag. We will not accept any bags without bag tag. Please bring your own rain cover for your bag and do not leave any valuable in your bags as organizers will not be responsible for any damage or loss of baggage.
Will be updated closer to the event date. But participants are advised to check the weather before leaving home and bring necessary clothing and gear i.e – raincoat, jacket, gloves, cap etc. Be aware of sudden temperature changes.
The prize presentation ceremony will be held on the day at 1 pm for the 12km race; and 2 pm for the 26km race. All the winners are required to assemble at the Prize Presentation area on time. If runners are not present during the Prize Presentation Ceremony, they will be automatically treated as having given up their prize.
Food & Refreshment
There will be a FREE Nepalese buffet for all competitors. The buffet will start at 12:30 pm. All runners are advised to use their BIB number to enjoy authentic Nepalese dish catered by Shangri La Curry House. We encourage participants to bring their own utensils (fork and spoon) to reduce use of plastic.
Please kindly fill in your emergency contact details at the back of your BIB. In case of emergency, you can also contact organizers on the number provided at the back of your BIB for any assistance. All participants are advised to carry a mobile device for any emergency purpose.
For the 26km race, it’s mandatory that runners have a water bottle or hydration system that is at least 500ml capacity.
Health & Safety
There will be First aid service at Start/Finish, CP1 and CP2 provided by St. John Ambulance. All runners are to be well prepared (trained, rested and hydrated) for the race. For safety reason, if you are ill/injured please do not continue/start the race and contact the organizers immediately.
Public toilet is located at the start and finish line within Lau Shui Heung Reservoir. Please be considerate to other general public and users of the toilet.
Take Your Litter Home
All participants are requested to keep the venue clean by properly disposing the litter in designated garbage bin provided by the organizer on the day. Please note that there are no bins on the trail (other than those at Check Points) so all participants must Take Your Litter Home (or back to start/finish line). Littering will result in disqualification from the race.
